IOSONO and Deutsche Telekom AG, Europe’s largest telecommunication company, have signed a patent license agreement for 3D audio technologies. The licensing deal grants IOSONO the use of 3D audio patents developed by Telekom Innovation Laboratories (T-Labs), the company’s central research and development unit.
“IOSONO is a technology leader in 3D audio. We’re proud to have them as our licensee for the Deutsche Telekom audio patents and look forward to seeing new audio solutions being developed,” comments Tim Alexander Oelmann, Senior IPR Manager at Deutsche Telekom AG. IOSONO has a strong experience in 3D audio research, holding numerous own patents. The company is also an exclusive licensee of patented spatial audio technologies by German research institution Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technologies. With the new agreement, IOSONO is further strengthening its IP portfolio in the areas of audio technology and communications.
“We will further enhance the consumer’s listening experience in cinemas, event locations or at home and are working on new, exciting products. In Deutsche Telekom we have found a renowned partner to expand our licensing business with even more state-of-the-art technologies,” comments Olaf Stepputat, CEO of IOSONO. 2013 will see the start of the company’s new licensing program with the goal to further develop and establish 3D audio technology in cinema, entertainment and consumer products. IOSONO has assigned German technology management company Florenus AG to support and represent the company in commercialization of respective 3D audio technologies.
