Roland GP3: The Grand Piano that Fits Anywhere

Roland has announced the ultra-compact Roland GP3 grand piano. The manufacturer claims that this piano is perfect for performers who “always dreamed of a grand piano, but could not afford it owing to lack of space.”

What is Roland GP3?

The GP-3 is an electronic instrument, not an acoustic one, despite Roland’s marketing of it as an electric grand piano. This model is, thus, a conventional electric piano in the grand piano form factor.

The instrument’s depth is little under 70 centimeters, and the Japanese manufacturer refers to it as a “small piano”. Wood is used for both the main body and the keyboard cover, and both are finished with a glossy lacquer.

The company claims the instrument is driven by a “advanced sound engine” but does not elaborate. The hammer action keyboard on Roland GP-3 electric piano features 88 keys. The business claims that the tactile sensations you get when you play the keys are very close to what you get when you play a real piano.

In order to play the piano, you’ll need to use the three pedals (damper, shift, and delay) (sostenuto). The technology supported by the tool is known as “half-pedaling,” which means that the force exerted when pressing the lever is halved. The GP-3 has a built-in audio system that is “immersive sound capable” for playback.

The instrument’s digital components include a Bluetooth module and a MIDI interface.
An instructional app for the Roland piano is included with the product. A metronome, two sets of headphones, and an internal recorder round out the features.

Unveiling the Standard Features of Roland’s GP3: A Comprehensive Look

The Roland GP3 is a masterpiece, encapsulating Roland’s expertise in the manufacture of digital pianos. Designed for compact spaces, the GP3 is sleek, elegant, and packed with a host of features that deliver a full piano experience. Here, we delve into the key aspects of this innovative digital piano, as described by the manufacturer.

  • Compact Design: The GP3’s low-profile footprint and short depth, measuring just 698mm (or 27.5 inches), make it a perfect fit for smaller living spaces. Despite its compact size, it doesn’t compromise on the richness of sound or the overall piano playing experience.
  • Elegant Aesthetic: Roland has carefully designed the GP3 to emanate the classic grandeur of a grand piano. Its finely carved details and an elegant gloss black finish ensure that the GP3 is not only an instrument but a statement piece in your home or studio.
  • Advanced Sound Engine: At the heart of the GP3 is Roland’s sophisticated sound engine. This technology allows for exceptional piano tone and response, delivering an authentically rich, resonant sound that is expected of a grand piano.
  • Authentic Touch: An 88-note keyboard equipped with hammer-action, escapement, and Ivory Feel materials gives the GP3 an authentic grand piano touch. It is designed to capture every nuance of your playing, just like a real grand piano would.
  • High-Quality Pedals: The GP3 comes with sustain, soft, and sostenuto pedals, as well as half-pedal assistance, giving you full control over your playing and allowing you to create a rich range of tones.
  • Immersive Sound System: Complementing the advanced sound engine, the GP3 is fitted with a custom dual speaker system. This immersive sound system delivers clear, high-definition audio for an enriching piano experience.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: With its ability to connect to a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet, you can play along with your favorite tunes and work with MIDI music apps for a more interactive experience.
  • Roland Piano App: Further enhancing its user experience, the GP3 works with the Roland Piano App. Through this, you can control various functions of the GP3, explore lessons, and do much more, all at your fingertips.
  • Practice Tools: The GP3 is equipped with a metronome and a recorder, two essential tools for everyday practice. Furthermore, it has dual headphones jacks, allowing for quiet practice or shared musical experiences.
  • USB Ports: The addition of USB ports enables the GP3 to connect with computers and flash storage devices. This opens up a range of possibilities, from easy recording to sharing of your music.
