Wearable device IK Multimedia Safe Spacer is a smart bracelet that helps people maintaining distance at the workplace. The company hopes that the device will ne useful for the businesses after the end of the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic.
What is IK Multimedia Safe Spacer Bracelet ?
Safe Spacer uses ultra-wide waves to determine the distance between people. As soon as a person with the same bracelet is within a radius of two meters, Safe Spacer sends a warning to both. Indication occurs by flashing the bracelet, vibration or a loud sound signal, depending on the selected settings.
According to IK Multimedia, unlike applications for smartphones that perform the same tasks, the bracelet works ten times more accurately, and the error in determining the distance is only 10 centimeters. The bracelet is waterproof so you can take it with you in the shower or bath, as well as undergo disinfection procedures.
The company claims that the device uses a patented algorithm that instantly responds to distance violations. It is noted that the bracelet does not require additional settings – you can use it directly from the box. At the same time, IK Multimedia understands that the device is useless in public transport and other similar crowded places, assuming that Safe Spacer will bring the main benefit in factories, warehouses and in the offices.
Each bracelet receives a unique tag stored in the device’s internal memory. Companies will be able to keep track of all devices, linking them to a specific employee of the organization through a special companion application for iOS and Android. The companion application is able to log connected devices, set the allowable distance of approach, change alert settings. According to IK Multimedia, such functionality will help business owners track unwanted contacts.
The head of IK Multimedia, Enrico Iori, says the company has created Safe Spacer to help employees of Italian factories and warehouses. Iori calls the bracelet an easy-to-use, secure, and private security device.
