RME has recently unveiled its latest offering, the RME Digiface AES audio interface. This professional, bus-powered audio interface is equipped with 14 inputs and 16 outputs via USB 2.0, as well as AES/SPDIF/ADAT/Analogue I/O. The RME Digiface AES audio interface is an all-in-one solution for recording and playback of both digital and analog sources, and also provides flexible playback and monitoring options through TotalMix FX. It is the perfect choice for professionals in need of a high-performance audio interface.
Versatile Digital Input and Output Connectivity with SRC
The RME Digiface AES audio interface is equipped with a comprehensive set of digital inputs and outputs, with a core focus on a 2-channel AES/EBU input and output through XLR. Additionally, it includes SPDIF coax, SPDIF optical, and 8-channel ADAT, allowing all inputs and outputs to be used simultaneously, making the RME Digiface AES a versatile, multi-functional audio interface that can handle all common digital audio formats. The built-in Sample Rate Converter (SRC) can be shifted to any of the three inputs to resolve clocking issues and adapt to different sample rates, making it a great choice for professionals looking for a high-performance audio interface.
Bus-power Compatibility meets flexible Analogue I/O Performance
The RME Digiface AES audio interface is equipped with high-quality, versatile analog inputs using the proven mic/line preamps in the XLR combo configuration of the Babyface Pro FS. The two digitally controlled preamps with individually switchable 48V phantom power provide a gain range of 75 dB, adjustable in 1 dB increments, resulting in exceptional EIN (Equivalent Input Noise) performance, high overload protection, and ample gain for even the lowest-level microphones.
It also features 2 balanced analog outputs via XLR sockets at the back of the device. These outputs can be used to drive power amplifiers, active monitor speakers, or perform recordings. Additionally, the Digiface AES audio interface also has a headphone output that allows for independent and high-quality monitoring.
Full Stand-alone Functionality
The RME Digiface AES audio interface offers easy and direct access to all features on the device directly from the front panel. The device has four keys, an encoder, and a high-resolution, clear color display with a well-designed menu structure, allowing for quick and easy configuration and adjustments. Additionally, six different device setups can be stored in the internal memory, allowing the interface to transform into various devices with the simple click of a button, which is particularly useful in stand-alone mode. Furthermore, the TotalMix FX feature can also be controlled externally through MIDI
Femtoseconds for clocking
The RME Digiface AES audio interface is equipped with the latest clock and jitter rejection technology, SteadyClock FS, which is based on a femtosecond clock. This technology effectively reduces intrinsic jitter during the conversion of analog to digital and digital to analog overall digital formats, resulting in an all-time low jitter level.
TotalMix FX and DIGICheck
It includes the TotalMix FX DSP mixer that provides comprehensive routing and monitoring options, which allows for a high level of control and flexibility over the audio signal. Additionally, it comes with the DIGICheck analyzer which allows for precise analysis of digital data in both record and playback streams.
RME ARC USB (optional extra)
The new RME Interface audio interface can be enhanced with the optional ARC USB remote control (sold separately), which allows for easy access to the frequently used features of TotalMix FX. The remote control features 15 customizable buttons, a large encoder wheel, and a TS jack to connect a footswitch. This makes it easy to control the audio interface from a remote location, providing users with greater flexibility and control over their audio production.
Pricing & Availability
The RME Digiface AES will be available for purchase starting February 2023 with an MSRP of £1819.00 (inc. VAT)
