Ableton<\/strong><\/a> atechnews\/soundcloud\/” target=”_blank”>SoundCloud<\/strong>\u2019s collaboration enters a new stage with Beat the Clock<\/strong>, a contest<\/strong><\/a> that\u2019s all in the timing. Atmospheric pop specialist M83<\/strong>, indie electronic stars Junior Boys<\/strong> and eclectic Los Angeles beat maker Nosaj Thing<\/strong> have contributed a Live Pack<\/strong> of samples and sounds to be used to create an original piece of music. Participants can combine the sounds from the Live Pack<\/strong> with their own sounds, plug-ins and instruments.<\/p>\n

The catch<\/strong>: participants must work against the clock and submit their entries within 24 hours after downloading the Live Pack. SoundCloud and Live users will vote for their favorites entries, with the top 25 then judged by the three artists who will pick the ultimate winner.<\/p>\n

Beat The Clock Contest | Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participation<\/strong><\/p>\n

# The contest runs from May 14th to May 28th
\n# Once you start downloading the Live Pack you have 24 hours to create and submit your track
\n# Creative use of the Live Pack contents will be a major criterion for selecting the winners. But you can use other content as well, as long as you use it to create something that sweeps us off our feet.
\n# Share and promote your track on your personal social media profile \u2013 e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and more. Make sure to link back to your entry on the contest page!
\n# The top 10 tracks will be showcased on Ableton.com
\n# Each contestant may only submit one track
\n# A SoundCloud account is required for downloading the Live Pack and submitting entries
\n# The Live Pack works with all editions of Live (Lite, Intro, Live, Suite) but requires version 8.2.2 or higher (download latest version)<\/p>\n

Voting<\/strong><\/p>\n

# A Soundcloud account is required for voting
\n# Public voting is open from May 14th to June 15th
\n# You can vote for as many tracks as you like, but only once per entry
\n# The top 25 entrants will be asked to hand in their Live Sets, so we can take a look under the hood and judge techniques.
\n# The prize winners will be selected from the top 25 tracks by M83, Junior Boys, Nosaj Thing plus the Ableton and SoundCloud contest committees.<\/p>\n
